Where am I at??? What am I doing??? I have no clue of what is going on in my life at the moment. I think about what I should be doing and what needs to be done but it seldom happens the way in needs to be. My life is a whirlpool. The deeper I contemplate about it the more I get lost. The state of confusion in my mind is killing me. How do I handle it, how do I tame it??? No one knows the answer to it, I guess it’s I who needs to figure it out. I have so many questions that I ponder upon and with the hope that I can get the answer to my questions I still keep on thinking… I wish there was a key to all the questions that I have or have had in life but every single time I get to this point reality zaps me and reminds me that I am the book of questions and the experiences in life is the key to the questions. I think about my life, family, friends and every other aspect of it and then I just stop and try to think and question, what it all about??? I get stranded and keep on thinking. With the days passing by and me getting older I hope to find my lost self someday soon.

Meningitis is the term I have heard of and a lot other have too in these past years. I also know someone who passed away due to meningitis when she was in her teens. Suddenly out of nowhere, this summer I got reminded of it as well, and it was all when I was diagnosed with non-pyogenic meningitis.

According to Wikipedia, “Meningitis is inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, known collectively as the meninges. The inflammation may be caused by infection with viruses, bacteria, or other microorganisms, and less commonly by certain drugs.” I had symptoms of severe headache and my neck felt very heavy due to stiffness. I was working at Connecticut and commuting from Queens, NY every day. That particular two days I got very irritated to what people had to tell me and when I was invited to a conversation. All I wanted to do was just have my neck twisted and popped and wanted no one to talk. I wanted silence. Eventually when I traveled back to Flushing, Queens I felt light headed and my head was pounding and then my mom came over and took me to a hospital. I was admitted for one night and it relapsed again. With the help of a lumbar puncture, finally, I was diagnosed with non-pyogenic meningitis and could be treated correctly.

In this webilography I would like to share more information of Meningitis and also recap the misery I went through and also prevent others from suffering from it.

Wikipedia

Meningitis

This webpage gives all the information on meningitis from the scratch for people who do not know a single thing about meningitis to people who do know at least something about meningitis. It discusses about the symptoms, causes, mechanism, diagnosis, treatment, and the prognosis of meningitis.

This particular website helps parents of young and teenage kids understand what meningitis exactly it. It also talks about the difference between bacterial and viral meningitis and the types of each. It also gives a very good explanation on how it is caused and how it can be prevented. It tells us the effect of meningitis on an infant and what can probably happen. The website tells the parents when the right time to consult a doctor is. It also tells us how meningitis spreads.

This MedlinePlus encyclopedia gives at complete review on Meningitis. Not only does it provide precise information on what meningitis is or how it is caused but on certain terms are hyperlinked which gives an elaborate meaning of it and makes it for readers to understand meningitis more in depth.

EHR (Electronic Health Records), right thing to talk about for me at this particular moment. I just got off the phone talking to a representative of Bank of America from the Fraud and Claims Department. Few weeks back, some internet based company got my debit card number and charged me $97.26 without my consent and since I got to know about it I have been consulting with my bank to secure my account and also get back the money, which Bank of America did refund to me as soon as I told them. This situation has kept me wondering on the issues of trusting someone, especially in the fields of computer informatics, and also how I do get backing up from the institution that I have an account with. This whole issue that I have been dealing with, these past few weeks has made me very alert on whom we can count on and whom we cannot.

EHR (Electronic Health Records), which in today’s world is one of the most essential and worthy thing that each one of us have to help us individually understand our health related matters, is one of the hot topics that every hospital/ health care institution/ physician’s office/ patients are talking about when it come to the development of it or when we are talking about who actually owns it. Having gone through a similar dilemma recently of who owns my bank account I have found it easier for me to understand who owns EHR as well. My answer to it is, we as an individual own our health records. No matter who compiles it, maintains it or has it for a long run, we still own it. According to the HIPPA it is just one signature of an individual that will allow a person to get complete information of their health care records. Like we trust in banks and put in all the money and wealth we have even though we know they have an access to it any time of the day and night we still go ahead and co-operate with them in helping us keep our wealth safe. Like few weeks ago the first person I called when I had an unauthorized transaction take place in my account was not my mother, not my sister or my best friends, but it was my bank whom I trust and know that they are there to keep me safe and secure when it comes to my money and treasures. In the same manner I trust my health care institution and others should too. This is one way we can get rid of the doubt one still has or will keep having on the matter on who owns one’s EHR.

The other part of assuring this can be done only and only by the representatives working for a particular Health Care System as it is one representative at a time that builds up to being hundreds and thousands of representatives which finally builds a particular Health Care System. Going into this field, I as an individual and as a student should keep in mind that what I am expecting right now from a Health Care Institution will be expected from me as well in the near future and at that particular time I must not turn my back but honor this matter of EHR with respect.

Oh my God! I can’t believe it. I just lost a whole page of my first internet journal blog and I am not happy about it. Just when I was putting a stop to the last sentence, Bam! Everything gets deleted from this particular page and all I see is the letter ‘c’. There was no way for me to retrieve what I had just written. This just made me realize that technology is not very accurate as they try to prove themselves to be and it is always good to write a journal first on a word document using the Microsoft office and paste it later to the journal website, as MS Word do have ways we can retrieve information that are accidentally deleted.

This week I learned a lot about twitter and how one can use different commands to tweet. I had an account on twitter that has existed for a while but the last time I used was the first time I made the account as I had no clue about how to communicate through twitter. After the first and second week of Health Care Informatics class I got to understand how important social networking is in the field of Health Science and how fast news travels through twitter. I also learnt the meaning of re-tweet. At the beginning when I started with my assignment on twitter I was really frustrated as I could not figure out a lot of stuff but by the end of this week I feel like I know almost everything that I need to for twittering. Yay! to all I got to learn from my Health Care Informatics class. Almost after seven years, did I realize the importance of using Boolean language to search for articles, journals, books, etc. I took Computer Science as one of the six subjects while I was in Junior High and I did learn a lot about the Boolean language and the expressions. I am happy that Terri’s instructions on how to do a search made me refresh my memories of how eager I used to be to solve the expressions and to use the Boolean language in my class then. I had forgotten that using Boolean language makes searches on the internet more precise and easy as well.

I also got to learn how trustworthy and informative the database is and how I also could find reliable sources for a particular subject on Google. I was amazed to see how, by just clicking on the link that says, “scholarly articles for (subject/ search term)” lead me towards getting information on a particular topic just from reliable sources and how just by doing this my search result was downsized enormously. All in all, these two weeks have been busy for me, to figure out how to perform an operation on the internet and how to figure out whether an information given is reliable or not. Even though this task might sound easy, it was not an easy one. Trust me; this is actually the bases for getting reliable information and also writing good scholarly papers. Twitter by itself is a great source to learn about new information from people of the same background like us and also to keep health care system and professionals up-to-date on any and every event going on in the U.S. but also all over the world.
